Part publisher, part portfolio, and part playground, Solarcide is the online home of the authors Martin Garrity and Nathan Pettigrew. However, this is no ordinary author webpage. We run things a little differently.
This site also exists as a gallery of dark and dangerous fiction. From humble beginnings–two authors on opposite sides of an ocean, connecting and sharing a passion for great writing–Solarcide was risen. Not content with run-of-the-mill author sites, we sought to forge an online literature magazine of sorts. Then something wonderful happened. A sense of community began to grow around the site, a community dedicated to noir, horror, and bizarro, the seedy underbelly of the written word.
Here you will find fiction to be read beneath a perpetual night.
In the first phase of our existence we featured stories and interviews with dozens of authors from around the world, experienced novelists and up-and-comers alike. The climax of our first eighteen months of operation saw the release of our first full-length, feature release. The short story E-book anthology, Nova Parade, features twenty-five writers and is a true spectacle of dark and bizarre fiction. This book represents a milestone, a celebration of success in our first stage of operations.
It only got better from there. Alongside regular online content such as guest story authors and interviews with novelists, we also gathered together a band of flash fiction writers for our second anthology, a wicked and decadent celebration of the shorter word count called Flash Me!: The Sinthology.
Then, in 2014 our publishing efforts hit the biggest peak so far with our flagship anthology, Solarcidal Tendencies. This book is our opus diabolus, the project of which we are most proud. Featuring sixteen works of dark and weird fiction, and boasting several successful novelists as headline names for the contents page, Tendencies is really the embodiment of the Solaricdal ethos.
Throughout all of this and beyond, Solarcide will continue to function as a portfolio for any work that the editors have published. Guest stories from other authors will continue to be featured, as well as interviews, and we’ll open submissions to the public during the months of July, August and September. Unfathomable levels of gratitude are bestowed upon anyone who checks out the site.
Together, we will kill the sun.
C’mon, you know you want to help!
